Should my company invest in simulation?

Simulation Technology

The current market has as macro-trends the consolidation of digitalization, the popularization of smart devices, and the whole journey towards the consolidation of Industry 4.0. And all these innovations surround and are swamped by the concepts of simulation in order to exist. In this scenario of so much innovation, an old but common question among engineers persists: simulation. The intelligent use of digital and the possibility to predict scenarios offer endless possibilities, with a fantastic potential for the market. However, is this technology for me? Does my team – or myself – have the necessary knowledge to take advantage of this technology? Does my company have the maturity, structure, and domain to obtain concrete results with this technology if we make this investment?

Everything new requires dedication, commitment, and time. Simulation is no different. Throughout my years of work, countless were the engineers that presented reluctance with this technology. The barriers presented are diverse: cost, strategic vision of the business, team knowledge, demand of activities, IT structure, level of demand from the client. This list could go on for hours without difficulty. However, even with this scenario, a fact has always been present: leading companies not only have the tool but also obtain direct and constant results with its use. Engineers whose competence fascinates me to this day use the resource as it should be used: as an engineering support tool for decision making, project improvement, and conflict solution.

This impactful and contradictory phenomenon has always caught my attention. How is it possible that there is such a disparity in the mindset of the market? How is it possible that good engineers feel insecure about technology while others embrace it with such ease? Is the technology complex and does this reality generate uncertainty in those who are not familiar with it, or do those who are not familiar raise the fear that the technology is difficult to implement?

Facilitating access to simulation

Throughout its 25 years of operation, ESSS has dedicated itself fully to change this perception in its market. Pioneers in this technology on a large scale, we have been able to bring the simulation concept to a large number of companies in our territory and we are proud of our contribution so that these customers are able to achieve their personal and professional goals.

To overcome the barrier that national development was reduced, we provoked the local market to equip itself with the same resources. Engineers in South America now have the same tools as engineers elsewhere. For the software complexity barrier, we created the Virtual ESSS platform, training customers in our products with our specialized team. To overcome the barrier of technique and technology concepts, we launched our specialization program, with real industry applications and a qualified faculty to expand our students’ vision.

Ansys Discovery: breaking through the last barriers

However, the fear of technology still existed. Much less than years ago, for sure, but still with a small number of engineers who believe that, despite its power, simulation was still not for them. If you are in this group, I have come here today to address you.

After all these barriers, we were able to identify, in cooperation with Ansys, new obstacles that needed to be tackled: ease of use, investment value, and learning curve. This was our main direction, as these goals were crucial for our customers’ prosperity. After years of effort, today we have the solution that can break down these barriers.

With Ansys Discovery, we have a disruptive tool. In it, we are able to do live, instantaneous simulations. Even with its great power, capable of calculating structural analysis, fluid dynamics, and electromagnetism problems, its investment cost is a fraction of other tools.

Furthermore, we created an intuitive and extremely simple to use interface, with a learning curve compatible with that of a video game, but in an engineering tool. And even with this extremely agile learning time, we have also developed specialized training focused on you. A training that gives you an introductory view of the technology and the benefits that can be gained from its use.

With our support, you can overcome all obstacles through simulation. The technology is accessible, easy, agile, and, yes, it is for you.
